Lookin Back

Well as ya'll know my daughter recently got married which meant moving her out of her house in her college town.  Ugh.. Today I found some photos of her college room that we did on a budget so I thought I would share it with you.
She lived with seven of her sorority sisters, each girl had their own room the house was old but hugh.  Em's kinda like her momma...(cheap)  lol.   Naw she just likes being more creative when it comes to decorating.  Her room was really small so it took creativity to get all of her things in the room.

We got the comforter set at Target on clearance for twenty-five dollars it had tiny fleur de leis on it.  (Em is a Kappa and their little symbol is the fleur de leis so there were several in the room.)  Most of the pillows came from TJ Max or Big lots.  My favorite is the one my friends monogrammed her initials on.  Ya'll know how I love those monograms.  All the photos and wall art came from thrift stores.  The curtains came in a set with ties and topper  I don't like matchy matchy stuff so I made her ties out of left over fabric then wrapped them in some of her old prom jewelry.

Here's her desk..(a little messy) see I didn't let that topper go to waste.  Since her room was soo tiny (8X13) we had to use her desk for storage also.  I love using old doors plus my father in law has a barn full of them.  Emily and I dug out one put a glaze on it topped it with plexiglass.  Then the hubby built a base for it.  I found this old harlequin fabric in my stash stapled it under the door to hide all her plastic rolling bins that she uses for storage.

Old drawer found in grandpa's barn.  Em modge podged scrapbook paper to the back then rubbed glaze over it.  Can you tell we like glaze?

I wish the pictures were better but I hope you get an idea of what it looked like.  These photos were taken by Em during finals so it's a little off but I think it still has a coziness to it.  The total cost for the room decor was under two hundred dollars but I think it looks like a million.

  3. Wow!! She (you) did a fantastic job...especially for the money she spent. I'll bet she had the best room in the whole house. Love the door/storage idea for a small room. First though was how expensive it must have been to have a glass top cut and then discovered it was plexiglass. Great idea! Hugs- Diana
