I risked it and braved the garage and luckily found my fall decor with no problems. Everything I used I already had except for the gauze drape. I love puddling and layers, height variations and lots and lots of stuff. lol It maybe too much for some but for me the more the better. I used old books, pumpkins, moss, sticks, leaves lots of candles and anything I could find laying around I threw up there.
Love love old books. Don't you????
I love using old black and white photos in different decor projects. I dug out some of my family... This is a photo of my Great grand parents the house behind them is the home that I grew up in. It use to be an old court house. My parents bought the home in the 70's gutted and totally remodeled it. It had been closed up for years and was full of treasures but in the 70's it was considered junk. Wouldn't that have been fun to go diggin in?
I also made some leaves out of old book pages. I think I saw that on the pottery barn website. It was super easy. Go get a leaf trace it on a old book page cut it out just like elementary school.
This probably was the best GW purchase I have ever made. I love these candlesticks they are real and very heavy. I think I paid 5 bucks for them. I have used them in weddings, daily decor and now fall!!! I could not live without these for decor projects. Do you have something that you use over and over??
Well that's my mantel decor hope you like it. My son and husband came downstairs last night to have a look and you know boys.. aww looks kinda like Edgar Allen Poe. I'm like what ...then stepped back and thought ya it kinda does!

I live in Owasso too. Where do you go for your thrift store and flea market finds?
ReplyDeletethis is amazing! gives me so many ideas! Can't believe you got those amazing candelabras for $5 at Goodwill...what a lucky find:)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the nice comments. It makes me feel so good that people notice the details. I'm kind of a detail girl. I have always been that way. My husband always ask me why do you do the little things when I do a project. I notice those kinds of things it's like the lipstick on your made up face. lol
ReplyDeleteWow Elizabeth hey, neighbor. I go all over our Goodwill in Owasso is pretty good but they have gotten kind of expensive lately and I'm cheap. I also go to community thrift in Tulsa alot. Sometimes my best treasures are found in small towns in Okie though.
I am totally and completely in love with our mantle! It is just perfect - all of the details look fabulously spooky!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! You certainly have a talent for "moychandising", as Christopher Lowell used to say.
