Aww Ruffles!!!

I've been super busy lately with trying to get caught up on sewing, cleaning and making the family happy.  Sometimes it gets a little overwhelming trying to get it all done.  To a fault I have always been a last minute person.  Good thing I work under pressure.  Dianna is having a photo shoot of some of our things for a new website she is starting.  So lately I've been concentrating on more feminine things for my part.  I love the feel of frenchy white linens and old books.  I want so bad to redo my entire home in this look but probably by the time I get it all done the look will be out.  Ha !!  Almost everything I do make I sell.  I have been promising myself that I am going to concentrate on my own home soon.

Here's a little pillow and book I whipped up yesterday.  Ruffles out of vintage linens always makes me happy.  The pillow took some time though.  I think next time I'll make bigger ruffles so I have to make less of them.  I want to buy a ruffler attachment for my machine but every time I go to buy one they are out. Ugh always something.

I think I have eight rows of ruffles which makes this pillow super fluffy.  It is also a slip with a feather insert which makes it even more yummy.  The little book is just two old thrift store book that I tore the covers off of.  I wrapped it up with old seam binding, made little fabric flowers, netting and crystals left over from Em's wedding.

Since it was old linen I really didn't cut the fabric much just measured and ripped.  (Yes I need to buy a sewing measure tape)  Ruffled then pinned each layer on.  I chose to pin and then sew each layer. I think it's easier this way I always have a problem with pins falling out it  when I try to pin all the layers on.

Can't tell you enough how good this pillow feels?  Does that sound weird?  Not like it's a living thing or is it?  The ole girl does have alot of personality and I definitely can relate to her fluffiness.

  1. I love ruffles, too. I have been so tempted to order the ruffles shower curtain from Anthropologie and the ruffled tablecloth from Pompom Interiors. :D
