Back To Work

I have so many fires burning lately.  Do you ever do that?  I think I have ADHD, sometimes I have a problem staying on task.  I do have the man cave painted, the crown molding hung and the carpet guy has measured and ordered the carpet can't wait until the fun part decorating it.  Since I'm waiting on carpet I decided to tear my closet apart and organize it.  Ewww it's like trying to fit a hundred clowns in a VW!!  I have so many clothes and no room.... I need to purge.  I always think I'm going to lose weight and will be able to wear some of them but I now realize that if I do lose weight I will probably want new stuff.

I also found some time this weekend and made pillows for the shop.  I added a couple of new designs thought I would share.

I tried to sew some pillows that remind me of sunny days.  It was raining around here this weekend when I was sewing and I needed sunshine!!!

Aww Ruffles!!!

I've been super busy lately with trying to get caught up on sewing, cleaning and making the family happy.  Sometimes it gets a little overwhelming trying to get it all done.  To a fault I have always been a last minute person.  Good thing I work under pressure.  Dianna is having a photo shoot of some of our things for a new website she is starting.  So lately I've been concentrating on more feminine things for my part.  I love the feel of frenchy white linens and old books.  I want so bad to redo my entire home in this look but probably by the time I get it all done the look will be out.  Ha !!  Almost everything I do make I sell.  I have been promising myself that I am going to concentrate on my own home soon.

Here's a little pillow and book I whipped up yesterday.  Ruffles out of vintage linens always makes me happy.  The pillow took some time though.  I think next time I'll make bigger ruffles so I have to make less of them.  I want to buy a ruffler attachment for my machine but every time I go to buy one they are out. Ugh always something.

I think I have eight rows of ruffles which makes this pillow super fluffy.  It is also a slip with a feather insert which makes it even more yummy.  The little book is just two old thrift store book that I tore the covers off of.  I wrapped it up with old seam binding, made little fabric flowers, netting and crystals left over from Em's wedding.

Since it was old linen I really didn't cut the fabric much just measured and ripped.  (Yes I need to buy a sewing measure tape)  Ruffled then pinned each layer on.  I chose to pin and then sew each layer. I think it's easier this way I always have a problem with pins falling out it  when I try to pin all the layers on.

Can't tell you enough how good this pillow feels?  Does that sound weird?  Not like it's a living thing or is it?  The ole girl does have alot of personality and I definitely can relate to her fluffiness.

Shabby Union Jack Pillow

Have you loved all the Union Jack things that we've been seeing lately?  From Miss Mustard Seed's Union Jack dresser to all the lovely pillows and wall hangings I've had a hankering to make something with the logo on it.  If my boys were still young and at home I would be finding  a dresser and doing a redo like Miss Mustard Seed's.  I just think it would be so cute in a young boys room with plaid and denim bedding with wool army blankets at the foot of the bed.  EWWW LOVE IT!!!!!

With that said I went the shabby route instead.  I'm always looking at Rachel Ashwell's site dreaming of things that I would love to have.  I love everything about her style and the worn comfortable look of everything she does.  On her site I found the shabby chic version of Union Jack on a pillow.  It is gorgeous!!

Isn't it precious soo sweet !!

Here's my version done on drop cloth with left over scraps from other projects.  I think it's pretty cute if I do say so myself.  Next one I make I'm going to make it more like hers though more like a patch and I need to find some crown buttons or something to add that little flare.  Overall though I'm pretty happy about it.

Love Makes The World Go Around!!

I'm Back!!!! Yeah!!! I'm sorry I have been such a terrible blogger.   Lately I've been trying to spend more time with my family.  Since the passing of my grandma I've realized that my family is the most important thing in my life and I need to enjoy and spend time with them so that's what I've been doing.

With that said I am also behind on things for the shop so the other night I whipped up some pillows with the love theme since Valentines Day is around the corner.  Let me know whatcha think.

Hugs and Kisses

I also decided to try and make a grain sack pillow.  I almost bought a real one from pottery barn and then decided do I really want to spend 80 bucks on one?  Ummm nope so out came the paint. painters tape and the good ole drop cloth.

Not Bad...

Well can't wait to hear what you think.  I am so excited to get back to reading, making comments and getting great ideas from all of ya!!!

It's Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas!!

It's been lookin a little bit like Christmas around here lately.  I've been sewing, gluing and making little Christmas things for Simply Vintage.  If you're from these parts we now have a booth in Jenks at River City Trading Post go check it out Dianna did a great job on setting it up!!!

I wanted to make some Christmas Pillows that had a Vintage Feel  here's what I came up with so far.  I think I like them whatca think??

(Image Graphics Fairy)

I love the old grain sack look... the feel the softness is so yummy.  These will be at River City if any Okies want them or I've been thinkin about offering them on the old blog also.  They are made out of a soft linen and the images are not all alike they are produced to look vintage so they have imperfections.  They are approximately 13 X 19 and poly filled.  If you'll want one give me a hollar I sell them for 18.00 plus shipping.

I'M BACK!!!!

Hi guys!!!! I'm BACK!!!!  Seems like forever since I have written a post.  I've been super busy with making things and well ...just life.  I thought when I became an empty nester that I would have extra me time... well that's just not the case.  I also needed a little break after the store sale whew.. that took alot out of me.  Thanks to all of you who were able to go to the sale it was a great night!
Lately I've been thinking about doing more with my creations just trying to figure it all out.  I may do the Etsy thing or maybe a few more craft shows.  Who knows?

Thought I would show you some of my recent work.  Whatcha think?  Should I open an Etsy store?  I am so indecisive right now.. oh well I'm sure I'll figure it out.

I love this My Beloved pillow... it's so soft and has such a special meaning.  I'm getting ready to redo my bedroom and I'm defiantly going to be making me one to keep for my bed.

College football is hugh around these parts so of course I had to make bedlam pillows.  The cowboy one was really hard for me to make but I suffered through it.  lol  Gooo Boomer Sooners!!!

Well it's rainy here in Oklahoma today so I will have to spend my day sewing pillows.  I sell some of my pillows and furniture at a sweet shop called Simply Vintage.  Weird thing is I met the owner thru of all things craigslist and what's even weirder is that she lives two houses behind me.  lol Small world ...anywhoo her shop sells used furniture and home decor.  She has the best taste and always has some of the prettiest things in there.  Recently I showed her my pillows and chairs that I make so now she sells them for me.  So I really need to get busy cause shes out yippeee!!!  I'm thinkin about doing a give away as soon as I get this blog goin good.. hope so!!!
