Our Vintage Baby Darcie's Shower

Wow it's been forever a lot has changed since the last time I posted and I'm going to try to share all the new and some of the old things that I've been up to.  The biggest and best news is that I'm finally going to be a grandma.  Yay!! We've been -planning the room and now the showers have started.  Our really good friends Rhonda and Lindsay planned the sweetest little shower.  All of our vintage loves and colors were incorporated.
I called the talented Bernadette from Cookiedoodle to make her wonderful sugar cookies.  She did an amazing job.  The theme of the shower was a shabby paperdoll theme so Bernadette worked her magic making little purses with Darcie's monogram on them.

Emily holding one of the sweet little dolls made by the Cookiedoodle.  I love all the the details in them.

Lots and lots of little dresses and shoes in all different colors.  So sweet and cute and I love the vintage cake plate that it is displayed.  Rhonda borrowed my huge glass server too.  I love that thing and use it for a lot of different events.  The best thing about it is I only paid 5 dollars for it at Goodwill years ago.

Cute little momma with her table of goodies lots and lots of milk glass, Rhonda also used her vintage rose dishes.  A banner made with burlap and paper dolls finished it off perfectly.

A lovely shabby shower..we are truly blessed!!! I'll share the food table tomorrow lots and lots of sweet details.

Fair Fun!

As usual it was a great weekend although it was busy.  All of the kids were home so there was alot of eating, laughing and enjoying each other.  Saturday night we went to the Sate Fair.  We aren't hugh fair people but it is a tradition that we go as a family.  We do the same things every year go to the petting zoo, look at the exhibits, look at the butter sculpture (yes I said butter we are from the south ya know).  My favorite thing to do is go to the Sugar and Art Show.  It's known nationally and has been shown on the Food Network.  Artist from all over the country come and compete.  I took some photos to give ya'll a look. (Sorry for the quality I had to use my IPhone)

Love this bird theme one!!

Hard to see but a Cinderella theme one.

This one was very detailed my pictures don't do it justice.

Hard to believe that those bottles are sugar.

Well I hope this gave you an idea about how talented these artists were.  Sorry for the bad photos but I wanted to give you a feel of how good these artist are.

Busy Bee

Hey you all I'd like to introduce myself..... Naw you know me I've just been super busy.  Buzzing around here doing home things, party things and ya wedding things..  Summer is always a busy time for me.  Recently one of my really good friends called me and asked me to help with her daughters wedding, "Heck ya I said".  Then she let me know that it was on July 23rd and outside WOW can you say hot tamale?  Well with that said you all of you know how I love weddings and we've known the bride since her and Emily were in second grade.  She is one of Emilys best friends and we consider her  family.  It will be a simple Vintage Chic wedding and you know how I love vintage weddings.
Emily is the Matron Of Honor and we are in the middle of planning the shower.  We want it to be a little vintage and a little funky.  We don't know if we want to do cupcakes or a cake.  I have found several cakes online that I love and think I can make.  Ya I could buy it but I love the way these look simple and different.

(from Design 111)
Love the ruffled look on a cute cake plate stand.  Plus it looks yummy with all that frosting.

(from I Am Baker)

I also love love this rose cake, plus it looks super simple and I Am Baker gives a tutorial on how to do it.  I'm not a cake decorator but I think I can do this one.  Decisions decisions decisions sometimes it's hard especially when your doing it for friends you just want everything perfect.  Is anything ever perfect?  Nope and really it looks better if it's not.
Well I'm off to to some planning, yard work and cleaning on the house I'm getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow plus having family over for the fourth so there is tons to do since I will be in bed for a couple of days.  Wish me luck I don't like dentist.  Yuck!

Twenty Five Years And Counting!!

I can hardly believe that the hubs and me have been married twenty five years... wow time goes by so fast.  We told our kiddos that we didn't want a party we didn't want them to go thru all the trouble.  Then about a week  or so ago I received an invitation in the mail to our party.  Emily and her brothers planned a little get together at the historical landmark of Will Rogers Birthplace.   I didn't even know they rented this venue out and my mini me party planner had one up on me.  It is a gorgeous place that overlooks the lake with a cute little barn, a perfect place for a vintage event.

With the help of my mom and sisters they made it perfect with all the vintage touches that I love.  Old photos, lace and burlap, candles, flowers and silver accents that just made it truly perfect.

Isn't this cake so cute.. Emily made it!!  She's getting so good at the whole event gig.  She also added a special touch of my grandmas old broach she knows what her mamma likes.

They also made a trail mix bar sooo cute. The picture doesn't do it justice so sweet it also had a chalkboard saying happy trails to you looovvve it!!!

It was nice to see old friends like our best man Jon and our maid of honor Carol.  They really didn't like each other at the time  of our wedding and now they have been married 22 years WOW who would have known.  Funny how life is.

.

The hubs and I with our sweet kiddos minus one Seany couldn't get off work.  Great Job guys we love you all!!!

Great Day with the hubs and many many more to come.!!!!   Thanks go out to our kids and a big hug and thank you to my mom and sisters love you all.

My Best Creation

Well it's been a great Mom's day around here starting out with church then lunch and then a movie.  I also snuck in a quick nappy poo too!  What can get better?  I love being a mom nothing is better!  Heck my best creation is my kiddos!!!  Each one completely different but yet they all have the same high morals and work ethic that the hubs and I have instilled in them.
Well off to finish my day think maybe I'll go trim my rose bush then watch the final Amazing Race.  I hope all of you all have had just as an amazing Mom's Day as me.

My Sweet Belle!!

Lucy is having a party from Debbie Doos Blogspot and we all around here love parties.  This party is for us to share our most beloved family member, our pets.

Our family pet happens to be an English Bulldog named Belle.  We have had her for four years now and I can't imagine my day without her in it.  We originally bought her for my youngest son for a Christmas present.  But you know how that goes mom usually gets to take care of the new puppies.  We quickly bonded and I soon claimed her as mine.  Her favorite things to do are sleeping, eating and sleeping and eating.  Bulldogs are a very lazy breed of dog.  They spend about six hours of the day sleeping which makes her the perfect dog for our family.

Back To Work

I have so many fires burning lately.  Do you ever do that?  I think I have ADHD, sometimes I have a problem staying on task.  I do have the man cave painted, the crown molding hung and the carpet guy has measured and ordered the carpet can't wait until the fun part decorating it.  Since I'm waiting on carpet I decided to tear my closet apart and organize it.  Ewww it's like trying to fit a hundred clowns in a VW!!  I have so many clothes and no room.... I need to purge.  I always think I'm going to lose weight and will be able to wear some of them but I now realize that if I do lose weight I will probably want new stuff.

I also found some time this weekend and made pillows for the shop.  I added a couple of new designs thought I would share.

I tried to sew some pillows that remind me of sunny days.  It was raining around here this weekend when I was sewing and I needed sunshine!!!

He Arose!!

Hallelujah Christ Arose!! Today was a great day!!  Even though it was a rainy day it was a glorious one.  Church was wonderful!! We go to a fairly large church and it was overflowing today.  Our church home is Church On The Move and our pastor is Willie George.  It is an awesome church with a wonderful praise and worship service as well as preaching.  Last Easter they Baptised over 600 new Christians and this year it may be more.  God is Great!!
After church it was on to dinner with the family.  We always have a hugh potluck dinner with lots of great southern food. Usually we have a big Easter egg hunt for the kiddos but with the rain we had to have it inside a little different but the kids didn't seem to mind as long as they had candy in the end they were fine.
Now I'm home with lots of dishes to wash and do a little laundry.  Hope everyone's Easter was as blessed as mine.

New Home And All Grown Up

Those of you that have been reading my blog probably remember the previous post  that I did on my daughter's wedding.  My sweet Emily.. I know alot of us ramble on and on about how great their children are... well it's true mine are perfect!!  I have three of the most well rounded morally minded kids.  All three of our children are gifted in different ways and each of them have always made their dad and I very proud!

Mr. & Mrs. Night Before The Big Day!!

Emily and I are very close she I can honestly say she is my best friend (next to the hubs of course).  She recently graduated from the University of Oklahoma and  is getting ready to apply to graduate school.  Her and her new hubby are very happy and live about two hours away from us.  I would really love for her to live next door so I could see her every day but I know she needs to start her little family with no interference plus we talk on the phone a couple of times a day.

Yesterday she sent me the picture below.  Emily and Daniel closed on their first home yesterday!!! We are very proud of the both of them.  The hubs and myself will be headed down over the weekend (weather permitting) to help with the move.  I'll be taking lots of pics so you all can see.  Emily's taste is vintage with a Pottery Barn feel.  I can hardly wait to see and help her.

Pic a little blurry sent via iPhone.

Mammas Got A New Bag!!!

I don't know about you but I am very picky about purses.  If I have one that I love I keep it forever.  I have been looking for a new one for a while now and I haven't found anything until now..... TADA!!!!

Now I know its a canvas tote but I love it so much I'm going to use it as my winter bag!!! It's made out of a tarp material fully lined with pockets.  It's pretty big also which is a plus for me (I prefer big bags for all my junk.) I purchased it from French Larkspur she has some gorgeous things please check her out you won't be sorry.
