Vintage Signs for Market

Love Love Love these signs that we are making for Vintage Market Days!!  We went digging around the old family farm this weekend and found all kinds of wood and neat vintage discards to paint on.  Sista Lisa Jo painted this Jesus Loves Me sign.  I love the worn warm colors she used with the old hinge.  So sweet!!

Who doesn't like a nest sign?  We will have several different signs each one unique and different.  We try to find old vintage discards to paint on.  Whether it's an old dresser that fell apart or an old chair that has no legs they are perfect for us to turn into something beautiful once again!

Sista's at Work

Since all my projects are half done around here thought I would share another little sign. This one is made by my  other sis Lisa Jo.  She found the dresser drawer down at the family farm. Daddy was cleaning out an old building that was used as a garage when my great grandparents lived on the farm.  It was full of old junk alot it had been ruined due to a roof  leak... Sad There is no telling what treasures I could have found!!

I love the word vintage that she painted on it so sweet.  The drawer handles make it even sweeter.  Never know what you'll find around the farm!!

Vintage Wall Art

Well ....I have all the sisters working on filling up our booth for Vintage Market Days.  My sister Sandy sent me this photo of a wall hanging she made out of a piece of old wood from our grannies chicken coop and old door locks and hinges she found at mom and dads farm.  I love the look!!! I think you could hang it by the back door and hang keys and dog leaches on it!!  So sweet and defiantly says vintage.

Crazy Crazy

Ya ya I say it all the time... but it's true life has been to say the least a little crazy.  Some ups and some downs but isn't that the way life is suppose to be.  To boot I'm so behind on blogging, making things for the shop and getting things done around here.  Well I woke up this morning and decided that the only way I can get things done is to get busy.  So I've got the house almost clean today thinking about what project I need to get started better late than never blogging is an easy chore to do.   I took some of these photos around fall time hence the little pumpkin in the shots.. but I thought you might looking at some of the goodies I completed around that time.

See I told you it was a while ago hence the trick or treat pillows!!  All painted with chalk paint.  My favorite is probably the little bench with nest on it.  It's made out of that fiber board stuff and was really wobbly. The hubs helped me make it more sturdy they I painted it out and stenciled nest on drop cloth.

See I have been busy.  Making lots of different things but still loving the white.  I promise I'll try to be a better blogger and hopefully won't have the same excuses in a couple of months!

CHRISTMAS MANTEL

Wow it seems like Christmas gets here earlier and earlier every year.  Usually every year I have my house decorated  for Christmas by Thanksgiving but this year is a different story.  I have been so busy that everything has suffered. (Hence the lack of blogging)  I got in gear this past weekend and have almost everything done.  Thought I would show you my mantel today since that's the thing to look at all over blog land this week!!

In the past I have done traditional trees gold, green and red.  I wanted to go with a lighter look plus I bought some really cute woodsy ornaments at a craft show recently.

Even though I wanted to change my look up this year I had to do it on a budget.  I had tons of burlap ribbon left over from a party I had so I knew I wanted to go with a light earthy feel.  As you can see I re purposed my silver candlesticks, champagne bucket that I used in my fall mantel.  I had all of the ornaments threw some sticks, greenery , white roses, and some reindeer and I think it's my perfect woodsy mantel.

I've had this glitter sign for several years and I love it.  It's starting to tarnish which makes me love it more!!

Ya I know ya'll probably get tired of the old silver champagne bucket but yet here it it again!!  I added white roses and my glass birds, pine cones, sticks and anything else I could find.  Can't say enough about my little German glass glitter deer... these are new I purchased from Hobby Lobby. Love Love them!!

My mantel wouldn't be complete without Santa.  I bought him a couple of years ago from Cracker Barrel, who would have thought.  I've bought several cute things from there in the past  they always have there stuff marked half off a week or so before Christmas and I go in there and scoop up so really cute things.

I purchased these moss stars at a craft show this Spring and I wish I bought more the small ones were only a dollar and the large one was three.  They add a whimsical look.  The large one I added in the center with burlap streamers.  I think it kinda looks like Patrick off Sponge Bob though. lol  I normally add bows but don't know if I am this year I kinda like the cleaner look of it....well for me that is.  I also want to make some stockings to hang but if that happens I better get on it!!
I'm going to link up to some of the link parties... a little late... oh well better late than never!! Hope ya'll had fun looking!!

Weekend Full Of Christmas!

I had an extremely busy weekend.   I went home to help my mom paint my grandmother's house.  My granny passed away last year and her house has been closed up.  Recently my sister had to make some life changes which has led her back home.  Since Granny's house was empty and needed someone to love and care for it this was the perfect solution.  Hence all the painting... it's a cute little farm home but needs to be updated really bad.  We have started with the kitchen I'll try to show you the little changes that we'll be making I forgot my camera so no pics yet.
When I got home Saturday evening i decided to go to my favorite store TJMaxx and find a wreath for my front door.  I love the basket that I had last year.  But needed something not quite so big.  I'll show you tomorrow what I found.

Although I went there for fall decor.  I was in a wonderland with all the cute Christmas decor that they have started putting out.   I'm in love .... I love the nostalgic Christmas decorations it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.  They had so many cute houses that light up, lots of  Santas and mercury glass ornaments.  I wanted one of everything.

I did get this!! Couldn't help myself.

This tree was done in cream and white.. pretty!

Lots of Santas done in golds and whites and cream.

I know it's too early to be looking and dreaming about Christmas.  Just can't help myself.  Looking at these Christmas goodies makes me happy.  What's a girl to do?

Fair Fun!

As usual it was a great weekend although it was busy.  All of the kids were home so there was alot of eating, laughing and enjoying each other.  Saturday night we went to the Sate Fair.  We aren't hugh fair people but it is a tradition that we go as a family.  We do the same things every year go to the petting zoo, look at the exhibits, look at the butter sculpture (yes I said butter we are from the south ya know).  My favorite thing to do is go to the Sugar and Art Show.  It's known nationally and has been shown on the Food Network.  Artist from all over the country come and compete.  I took some photos to give ya'll a look. (Sorry for the quality I had to use my IPhone)

Love this bird theme one!!

Hard to see but a Cinderella theme one.

This one was very detailed my pictures don't do it justice.

Hard to believe that those bottles are sugar.

Well I hope this gave you an idea about how talented these artists were.  Sorry for the bad photos but I wanted to give you a feel of how good these artist are.

Howdy Ya'll and Welcome Fall!!!

Wow I know I've been a terrible blogger.... but I do have some excuses.  I took a two week summer vacation, been working like a dog sewing and painting for our booth, making tons of trips to Goodwill because I'm determined to get this house in shape.  I've got tons to share with you so I promise I'll be a better blogger.  (fingers crossed)

As I said before I've been super busy but I have managed to do some fall decor.  I think fall is one of my favorite seasons.  All of the muted colors the cool crisp air and all the yummy smells like carmel and cinnamon love love... with all that said I thought I would share my mantle decor.  This year I went with a Sleepy Hollow theme.

It looks alot like last years I just added more feathers, white pumpkins, burlap and little bit of everything else except the kitchen sink.  I love love layering the more the better!!

I put my silhouette machine to use this year and cut out shapes of the headless horseman then backed them with scrapbook paper with script them put them in cheap black frames.

Layers of books and moss makes and a old looking oil photo of a man that I thought looked a little like Ichabod Crane (scored at TJMaxx for 3 bucks)!!

Emily gave me these white sticks I stuck them in a vintage champagne bucket then added more moss and some vintage looking Halloween ornaments.

Well that's the start of fall here at my house can't wait to get started looking at all of ya'lls.

Update The Man Cave

Well the hubs went out of town last week for a conference sooo what does that mean??   Oh ya time to do some work on his man cave.  It has needed a redo for a long time.  How do I explain how ugly it is?  It is dark, dreary and full of leather furniture and it also has a new leather theater chair (which I hate).   I have always had problems with this room.  The hubs loves this room and hates change.  I have tried to make it cozy but I always get grief from him and the boys.  They use it for football games, playing video games and just hangin out.  The last redo I painted it red thinking it would go with all our Oklahoma Sooner stuff but in the end I didn't really like it.  I have been wanting a change in this room for a while so now is the perfect time.

This is the only before picture I have I was in a hurry to get started so forgot to take photos of the whole room.  Oh ya it's red and don't you just love that green berber carpet?... NOT   I need to order a new couch but the hubs says it feels like love of a good woman just wraps around him....He's crazy!!!  Maybe I can find a really good leather treatment for it.

Here is a sneak peak of the new wall color I forgot the name it's Sherwin Williams something I'll look it up and let ya'll know.  It already looks great it really changed the feel of the whole room.  I also added some crown molding to the top, it has a really weird ceiling line and need something to make it look a more put together.  I have yet to figure it all out but I'm working on it.  I also ordered new carpet  and hopefully it will be in and laid in a couple of weeks.  So be on the look out I hope to have it finished soon.

What A Fun Week!

Swamped around here lately getting ready for parties, making crafts to sell, painting my den.  I've got lots to do this week but it's all worth it.  I'm trying to get organized today but there are paint tarps and junk everywhere.  How come when you try to get a project done the rest of your house suffers?  Ugh oh well ... with that said thought I would show you some of my little Easter things I put out.

I love this galvanized tub I think I bought it at TJ Maxx.  (love that store) I threw in some fake baby's breath with paper mache eggs.  Love my new little bunny too he came from Ross and was only three bucks.

I love these paper mache eggs the way they look old just says yummy to me.  Tuesday morning usually has the vintage seasonal decor which I love.

My sweet sis (Emily) brought this little wooden crate with eggs home to me the last time she visited.  I picked up these little ceramic bunnies came from the dollar store aren't they cute and they don't look cheap which is a bonus.

Easter Time

Easter is one of my favorite holidays for so many reasons the most important one is my Savior was Risen from the grave!!! It also reminds me of having get togethers with my family eating all day and having huge Easter egg hunts with the kiddos ...which we still do today!!  I also love the candy even though I'm trying to stay away from it this year.  The past couple of days I've been digging out my Easter decor and trying to get it out before the holiday comes and goes.

I went a little green with my mantle decor.  I made the Spring letters with wooden cutouts from Hobby Lobby and added reindeer moss to them.  I used white urns from GW and made topiaries with bunny rabbits from Pier One.  I also used my GW champagne bucket filled with sticks and made eggs to look like the Pottery Barn ones.

I really like the way the eggs turned out they are those brown paper mache eggs I painted white, glued ribbon on and put Happy Easter on with sharpie.

That's a little bit of decor.  I'll show you some more soon I promise I'm tryin to get busy!!
